12-year-old Carlisle boy hit by car near golf course

A 12-year-old boy suffered head injuries after being hit by a car.

The Carlisle youngster was hit by a grey Ford Focus driven by a 29-year-old man from Carlisle as he crossed the road separating two holes at Eden Golf Club, Low Crosby, near Carlisle.

The accident happened at 3.20pm yesterday and the boy was taken to Carlisle’s Cumberland Infirmary, where he was in a stable condition.

The car driver’s pregnant wife also needed medical attention for shock.

Police closed the road for several hours after the accident but no arrests are expected in connection with it. Anyone who saw the accident should contact police on 101.
