HOW THEY MET: At the home of mutual friends, Helen and Tony Scott, before a night out in 2009. They became friends before starting dating a few months later
PROPOSAL: In the local pub at midnight on the night before Hayley’s birthday in 2011

VENUE: The couple had been due to marry at St Aidan’s Church, Warwick Road, Carlisle, but due to Storm Desmond in December 2015 and the subsequent floods they had to relocate to St James’ Church in Denton Holme
THEME: Classical and neutral

BRIDE’S OUTFIT: A David Tutera gown in stone with ivory lace detail on the bodice and a full skirt worn with a full train and hip-length, two tier veil with lace edge detail, both from Kokoa Bride, Carlisle. Luckily the bride already had her dress prior to the floods. A hairpiece was borrowed from the bride’s cousin Angharad
GROOMSMEN: David Marrs, groom’s best friend, was best man and Tony Scott, groom’s childhood friend, Phil Hacking and Billy Kenny, both groom’s friends, were ushers. Jay Alston, bride’s nephew, was pageboy. They wore navy suits, with long jackets and ivory waistcoats. The groom wore an ivory cravat and the groomsmen wore navy cravats. BRIDESMAIDS: Vicky Boyd, bride’s sister, and Kate Harding, bride’s best friend from school, were bridesmaids. Fern Hastings, the bride’s niece, and Summer Metcalfe, the bride and groom’s daughter, were flower girls. The adults wore dresses by Dessy in pale green from Capricorn. The flower girls wore ivory dresses from Debenhams
FLOWERS: A bouquet of gypsophila, hydrangea, gerberas and roses with bendy grass for the bride. The bridesmaids carried bouquets with similar flowers and the flower girls had bud roses with gypsophila hand tied with material to match the bridesmaids’ dresses. All from Edmondson’s Florists.
TRANSPORT: A Rolls Royce Cloud and Daimler Limousine from Cumbria Classic Cars

RECEPTION: An afternoon reception for 86 adults and 20 children at the Shepherd’s Inn, Carlisle, with an additional 70 guests for an evening reception
TABLE SETTINGS: Centrepieces were Eiffel Tower vases with three gerberas and bendy grass. Each table also had a photo booth prop
FAVOURS: Fudge made by the bride’s mum in a white box with handmade ribbon to match the bridesmaids’ dresses and pearl napkin rings. Children’s favours were home-made sweet cones
CAKE: A three-tier cake of lemon sponge, carrot cake and jam sponge with ivory icing, ruffle detail on the middle tier, topped with handmade icing flowers to match the colours of the dresses and flowers in the bouquets
FIRST DANCE: Islands in the Stream, Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton
ENTERTAINMENT: Amp and Dex DJ

HONEYMOON: A family holiday in Lanzarote to be followed by a minimoon later in the year
