Charlie Wyke looks set to line up for Carlisle United against Barnet today after hints that the finer detail of his Blues contract may have prevented Bradford striking a quick deal for the striker.

The Blues have consistently refused to comment on the existence of a release clause which the Bantams are understood to have triggered with a £250,000 bid.

The League One club have not yet been given permission to speak to the 17-goal frontman after lodging their offer.

And United have stressed the detail of Wyke's deal remains "confidential" in response to questions why Bradford have not automatically been allowed to open talks.

Boss Keith Curle, though, suggested the matter may not be clear-cut despite the Valley Parade outfit's offer.

Curle said: "Individual elements of the player's contract are confidential and need to remain confidential.

"Clauses in individual contracts, they can be very complicated. It's important that discussions take place between Charlie's agent and the club at that level."

Negotiations are likely to continue, with Tuesday's 11pm deadline looming and with Curle claiming other clubs are showing interest in the former Middlesbrough man.

The Blues boss also claimed Carlisle value Wyke higher than the amount they have so far been offered.

United are adamant they do not want to lose Wyke, and Curle said he was satisfied the frontman will not be distracted by the transfer talk as he prepares for this afternoon's game (Brunton Park, 3pm).

"Credit to the lad," said Curle, who claimed other clubs were showing interest in Wyke. "All he's saying to me is, 'I want to focus on my football and to keep doing what I'm doing'.

"The lad wants to play, he's in an environment where he's thriving and long may that continue."
