New signing Samir Nabi is now free to make his Carlisle United debut after international clearance was secured for the midfielder.

The wait for the paperwork prevented the 20-year-old from being involved in Saturday's home defeat to Crewe.

But the registration hold-up has now been resolved and Nabi could now be added to Keith Curle's squad for the trip to Yeovil this weekend.

Former West Brom prospect Nabi's last club was Indian Super League club Delhi Dynamos.

And it is with the Indian football authorities that United have been in contact.

Nabi joined last Friday along with former Barnet and Lincoln striker Ben Tomlinson.

They became the fourth and fifth new additions in the space of two weeks at Brunton Park.

Curle said his recent spate of new signings - Joe Ward, James Hooper and Junior Joachim having also joined - was as a result of the recurring injury problems at United.

"We're trying to cover all eventualities," he said. "Players are going down like flies, and if we're able to get into the play-offs I don’t want to be short on numbers."
