Carlisle United boss will rise again, says Pericard

Vincent Pericard, the former Carlisle United striker who helped save Greg Abbott’s job, today insisted the Blues manager can pull himself out of trouble again.

The French forward, who retired earlier this year, was one of Abbott’s best signings when he sparked a dramatic improvement in the 2009/10 season. And Pericard – now the founder of a player welfare management scheme – is backing his old boss to confound the doubters another time.

“He has done it before, when they weren’t doing well before I came in,” he said. “Maybe he needs one special player to come in, or something to happen, but I’ve got no doubt he can turn it around. He is a great manager. The club will always be in my heart and I wish for them to be successful.”
