WIDELY recognaised as one of the world's leading vocalists paying homage to the legendary Roy Orbison, Barry Steele will take the reins and bring his show The Roy Orbison Story to Carlisle this month.

He has stunned audiences across the globe with his uncanny similarity and ability to authentically revive the top tapping sound of this music giant.

The Roy Orbison story showcases an exquisitely produced musical journey in time, in which he celebrate the musical legacy of The Big O and The Traveling Wilburys.

Barry is backed in this all live multi-media show, with not only a fabulous band and musicians, but a big screen featuring both live streaming and images from the life and times of Roy Orbison.

The shows popularity has increased over the years, but Barry never set out to create the character.

It was on a family holiday in Cornwall in 2001 that Barry took the first steps on the road to becoming a professional singer, when his wife Lynne and their daughter Leonie entered him into a singing competition without his knowledge.

He says: "Just as I was about to get on stage, one of the other ocntenders said "You know you sound just like Roy Orbison singing Robbie Williams!”. So with the help of family and friends a tribute to The Big ‘O’ was born."

The show also features footage and impersonations of stars who worked and shared centre stage with him, interspersed with factoids and information about the life and times of what is considered to be one of the best singers the world has ever known.

The show also features chart busting hits originally made famous by The Spencer Davies Group, Del Shannon & Jerry Lee Lewis culminating in an incredible fusion of ‘60s solid gold classics and ‘80s contemporary musical genius all on one stage.

The Roy Orbison Story will take to The Sands Centre Stage on Saturday April 29
