Carlisle United have cut ticket prices for Brunton Park's first home game of the new season.

Fans will be able to watch the League Cup first round encounter with Port Vale for just £10 if they buy their tickets before the day of the game.

And season-ticket holders can gain entry for £5 if they also buy their tickets early.

The offer comes as United and Vale confirmed the tie in the newly-named EFL Cup will be played on Tuesday, August 9.

That comes three days after the Blues start their league campaign at Portsmouth.

Carlisle's new chief executive Nigel Clibbens told the club website: "This match is the first home game of the season and we want as many fans supporting the team as possible."

Advance prices are £10 for adults and seniors for all sections of the ground, rising to £13 if bought on the day.

Manager Keith Curle, meanwhile, says a "representative" United team will face Penrith in the Blues' final pre-season friendly this summer.

Carlisle will make the short trip to Frenchfield Park to take on Matt Henney's Northern League Division One side on Monday, August 1, kick-off 7pm.

The fixture was officially confirmed by the Blues yesterday with Curle hinting that it may not see a full-strength Carlisle side.

"Penrith has been added in for [that] Monday whereby a representative team from Carlisle United will be there," he said.

Carlisle's friendlies start at Queen of the South next Tuesday, the first of two behind-closed-doors games this summer.

Curle said: "It's essentially a training session and sometimes it's better to train against an opposition rather than somebody you train with every day.

"It will be an opportunity to implement things against players we're not familiar with, and gives me the opportunity to have complete and utter focus.

"There will be a training session before the game and then we will aim to implement those things in the game."
