Keith Curle says Tom Miller is weighing up "numerous offers" as the defender considers whether to stay with Carlisle United.

The Blues manager admitted that talks with both Miller and Alex McQueen have yet to be resolved.

Curle also said that two members of his first-team squad - new signing Reggie Lambe and last season's top scorer Jabo Ibehre - were absent from the first day of pre-season training today.

Regarding the two right-backs who were offered deals by the Blues early in the close-season, Curle said: "We are still negotiating with Tom Miller and Alex McQueen.

"Tom has been out of the country on a family holiday and has only touched back in.

"I think he has had numerous offers, which you'd expect."

Speaking to United's website, Curle did not reveal the exact details why frontman Ibehre was not with the rest of the squad today.

But the manager insisted there was no "conspiracy" surrounding the experienced striker.

Curle said: "I look after players.

"Players who I think need an extra couple of days, I give them.

"There is no conspiracy. I had a conversation with Jabo, and I need Jabo to come back into this club in the right frame of mind.

"Sometimes you give older players a bit of leniency because they know how to conduct themselves.

"Make no mistake, everybody wants Jabo Ibehre at this football club."

Winger Lambe, Curle said, would join up with his new team-mates on Monday.

The manager said the former Mansfield player had been given extra time off after being on international duty with Bermuda earlier this month.

Lambe started in Bermuda's 1-0 defeat to the Dominican Republic on June 5.

Curle said: "His conditioning is spot-on and he has been in good contact with [fitness coach] Lee Fearn, and he is going to come back and hit the ground running.

"He has not had a summer break.

"It's important for Reggie to come back to England, reacclimatise and readjust. He will be here on Monday for his introduction to the group."

United's other six new signings - Nicky Adams, Joe McKee, Russell Penn, Jamie Devitt, Shaun Miller and Mike Jones - were all involved in training today.
