Famous faces from Workington Town's past have been out in force on social media ahead of the club's big clash with Bradford Bulls this weekend.

Players who have pulled on the blue and white of Workington have been urging supporters to head to Derwent Park on Sunday and get behind their side for the big League 1 game, ko 3pm.

Ex-skipper Colin Armstrong, and legends including James Pickering, Brad Hepi, Tony Kay and Billy Pattinson have all sent video messages of support.

The club are keen to promote the clash against Bradford and built on the relationship they have with their former players.

Town chairman Garry Mounsey said: "This has just grown over time as we are trying to upgrade our social media.

"We started with any visitors to the club such as James Graham and our links with Wigan for Gelling and O'Loughlin.

"We wanted to promote the Bradford match as a real test of where we are in terms of our plans for the season and because of Leon's links with the club.

"As a club we are very big on heritage and celebrating our ex players.

"We’ve therefore been pushing very strongly with ex players to send good luck messages and we’ve had some lovely ones."

Hepi and Kay, who both starred in the 1994 Premiership win at Old Trafford, urged fans to boost the crowd when the former Super League outfit head to Town.

"I just want to say I miss you guys and what you did for us when we were playing," said Hepi in his message.

"It is now time to get down there in numbers and support our current team when they play Bradford.

"They will need your support to get the win and really push for promotion this season. Up the Town!"

And centre Kay added: "We want you all to get together and come and support the current crop of players."
