Workington Town are set to rest a couple of players for today's clash with West Wales Raiders - after a tough recent schedule.

Players who were carrying knocks have not been risked for the journey to take on the Welsh outfit, currently languishing at the bottom of Betfred League One.

James Newton and Jamie Doran will both sit out the clash while Tyler Dickinson picked up a hamstring problem so will not be available to Town from Huddersfield Giants.

"We have got a couple of players carrying injuries so we are going to take the time to rest Newton and Doran today," confirmed Town assistant coach Craig McDowell.

"It is a long season and we have had some really tough games over recent weeks so when we get the opportunity to give them a rest we are going to take it.

"But we do have a couple of players in on dual registration from Leigh."

Town will get another flavour of France when former Catalans Dragons player Jordan Dezaria comes in to the pack from Leigh as a replacement for the injured Dickinson.

And team-mate and fellow Frenchman Ilias Bergal is also available again for Town.

Town will make two forays into Wales over the next two weekends, with the game against West Wales being followed by a test against the North Wales Crusaders.

But, with Town currently lying inside the play-off places in fourth, they know they can't afford to slip-up if they want to stay in the running.

"We have to dust ourselves off from last weekend and go again," said McDowell.

"There are still plenty of games to go and we are still inside that top five.

"Last week was two points, that's all and we need to move on from there starting today, with some big games coming up."
