The continuing hot weather produced a glut of runs throughout all divisions of the Eden Valley Cricket League.

In the Premier Division, Caldbeck (206/9) entertained leaders Carlisle 2nds (207/6) with the visitors winning off the final ball.

Rob Benn (82) gave Caldbeck’s innings substance; Luke Westmorland (3/40) and Jordan Oultram (3/54) best with the ball.

Carlisle’s reply centred on major contributions from Oultram (58), Olly Bradley (50) and James Dawson (46).

Staffield (249/5) put together their best batting performance of the season; Richard Bamber (70), solidly supported by Steve Thomlinson (44), Tony Threlkeld (40) and Scott Lancaster (40).

Kirkby Stephen (250/2) cruised to victory, led by Rob Hook (112) and James Bowman (65 not out).

Rockcliffe (131/6) moved into second place with a four-wicket win over Lanercost (130/8).

A low-scoring game at Stainton saw the home side hang on for a point.

Threlkeld (132/10) were all out in 29.3 overs. Stainton (108/9) started well. Wickets fell regularly but Stainton managed to hold on for a point.

Temple Sowerby versus Braithwaite has not been recorded on the website.

In Division One, Gamblesby (180/10) made a good start with Darren Coleman (62), Richard Benson (51) and John Forrester (25) but the innings collapsed with Carlisle 3rds (181/5) taken to victory by Carl Bell (64), Nathan McStay (47) and Chris Hayes (38 not out).

Keswick 2nds (192/4), with Oscar Link (80 not out), set a total Edenhall (156/10) struggled to reach.

Tom Langridge (42) and Matthew Wilson (29) gave them a solid start but, thereafter, the innings fell away.

Langholm (303/7), with Gregor Park (91) and Nicky Piszczykiewicz (77), set a total that was too much for Nunwick (185/8).

Wigton 2nds (232/8), with George Spark (60), set a score Wetheral (192/7) were unable to chase down.

In Division Two, Appleby Eden 2nds (240/8) with Jordan Palmer (132 not out) scoring his maiden century.

Kirkby Stephen 2nds (180/9) chased hard, falling short but earning a point.

A local derby saw Lanercost 2nds (153/7) beat Irthing Vale (152/7) by three wickets.

Penrith 3rds conceded their game with Caldbeck 2nds.

In the Sunday League, Lanercost (100/10) chose to bat first. Carlisle 4ths (102/3) eased to victory with Will Clark (49 not out).

Penrith 4ths (162/9) lost by nine wickets to Dumfries (164/1).
