AFC Fylde 0 Carlisle United 1: Hallam Hope scored the only goal of the game as Carlisle United claimed a 1-0 victory at AFC Fylde.

Hope struck in the 86th minute to give the Blues their second pre-season victory after the home team had dominated proceedings for much of the second period.

The Cumbrians had enjoyed the better of the early stages with Hope having the best chance in the first 10 minutes.

He bent his effort narrowly wide of AFC Fylde keeper Jay Lynch's right-hand post on eight minutes.

The home side had a golden chance to score on the 16th minute. A defensive mix-up presented AFC Fylde man Serhat Tasdemir with a shooting chance but he missed the target with United keeper Joe Fryer out of his goal.

On 24 minutes, Danny Phillskirk flicked a Joe Cardle cross wide before, at the other end, Jamie Devitt tested Lynch. Devitt then crossed for Richie Bennett moments later, with the big striker's header crashing against the bar.

Three minutes before half-time, Cumbrians keeper Fryer had to fly away to his left to tip wide a Tasdemir strike at the end of a goalless first half.

With chances few and far between after the restart with both sides making changes, a left-wing cross from Cardle tested the United defence. But Phillskirk couldn't reach the ball and sub keeper Adam Collin gathered on 58 minutes.

Then, 14 minutes later, an AFC Fylde trialist fluffed a great chance.

With the hosts dominating the chances in the second half, sub Danny Rowe cracked an effort against Collin's bar on the 78th minute.

Rowe then drilled a free-kick wide on the 85th minute from a good area.

But a minute later, Hope's long-range shot took a flick off a home defender and found the back of the net to give United a late lead.

At Mill Farm, loan signings Regan Slater and Jerry Yates both made their first Carlisle starts as the Blues continued their pre-season.

The pair joined United yesterday with midfielder Slater joining on a season-long loan while striker Yates completed a six-month loan move.

Summer signing Gary Miller and playmaker Jamie Devitt also returned from injury to make their first appearances of pre-season.

Richie Bennett, who pulled out of last weekend's game at Penrith with a minor knee injury, also started up front.
