Steven Pressley admits the “fatigue” levels of his Carlisle United team will influence his selection at Rochdale tonight.
The Carabao Cup second round tie will be the Blues’ third midweek game in successive weeks in a busy start to the campaign.
Pressley made two changes to his side for Saturday’s league draw with Salford - which was played in sweltering heat - and will consider altering things again.
Asked if he could rotate, he said: “Possibly. Because I thought the players gave so much [on Saturday].
“One of the considerations will definitely be the fatigue of the team.”
Pressley expects to encounter a good footballing team in Brian Barry-Murphy’s Rochdale.
The United manager believes progress to the third round could be huge.
“I want us to progress in all cups – it brings a real excitement to the place,” he said.
“It would be amazing if we went through and then got a terrific home draw.
“It would be amazing for the town. That’s what we want.”
