Carlisle United suffered a 3-2 defeat to Grimsby Town – how did we rate the players at Brunton Park?
HARRY LEWIS – 6
Keeper made some good saves, was left exposed for first Grimsby goal, while Blues’ attempts to play out were not always secure.
ARCHIE DAVIES – 6
An industrious showing on the right and provided a neat assist for Sadi’s goal before Grimsby turned the tide.
CAMERON HARPER – 6
Another set-piece assist for the Scot, who used ball well in opening exchanges but had less answer to visitors’ late threat. Outjumped by Cass for second equaliser.
BEN BARCLAY – 5
A couple of early errors mixed with some early composure on the ball, but Carlisle’s command of their box late on was not enough.
SAM LAVELLE – 7
Opportunist run and finish earned him the opening goal and he was impressive in the first half and, by and large, one of United’s better players even as they crumbled in the last ten.
JOSH VELA – 6
Part of a hard-working midfield that got Carlisle in command in the first half but was unable to get on top of Grimsby when the visitors mounted their comeback.
HARRISON BIGGINS – 6
One of United's best players in the first half, as Biggins covered ground and worked things intelligently. But faded significantly after the break.
JORDAN JONES – 5
Tested Mariners with some deliveries in the first half but the second 45 was a more frustrating spectacle for Jones and United, who created little.
DOMINIC SADI – 7
His positioning in attack offered Carlisle some x-factor in the first half, and he arrived well to convert his first senior goal. Looked to be bright on ball but opportunities faded.
LUKE ARMSTRONG – 5
Put in his usual frontrunning shift as Carlisle began on the front foot, but their efforts after the break were sub-standard and Armstrong offered little threat in the box.
CHARLIE WYKE – 5
Could have won an early penalty, and hold-up play gave Blues a decent early platform, but was on his heels at times in second half as Carlisle’s attacking became blunt.
Subs: Jon Mellish – 6 – Late introduction amid Grimsby’s key spell.
Terell Thomas – 6 – Unable to help Blues keep door locked at death.
Star man – Dominic Sadi – Showed some moments of genuine flair as well as timing when scoring United’s second, and found a number of positive positions when Carlisle had their best spell.
