FORMER Carlisle United loan star Dynel Simeu has completed a move to Albanian side KF Teuta.

This comes after his former club Southampton announced that the ex-Blues defender had been released earlier this summer.

The 22-year-old defender, who began his career in the Chelsea Academy before moving to the Saints, enjoyed a fruitful half-season loan spell at Carlisle United during the 2021/22 campaign.

During this period at Brunton Park, Simeu made 18 league appearances for the Blues and became a fan-favourite thanks to his defensive performances and exuberant celebrations.

The defender, who also had spells on loan from the Saints to Tranmere Rovers and most recently Morecambe, will now play his football for KF Teuta in the Albanian top flight, Kategoria Superiore, in the port city of Durres.

KF Teuta are currently ninth in the Albanian top tier after three games having won one and lost two of their opening games.

Writing on social media, Teuta announced the signing of the former Carlisle United loan star.

They said: "Teuta Football Club announces that it has reached an agreement with English midfielder Dynel Simeu.

"Our club has today reached an agreement with the 22-year-old player, who comes toTeuta after a positive experience with the Chelsea U18 team, while last season he played with Southampton U21.

"Simeu has also been a contingent of the England U18 national team."
