With the Blues on the verge of a takeover there are exciting times ahead.

The CUOSC board are first and foremost fans, and we share the dreams and aspirations of all supporters.

But we also believe as an organisation we can thrive under the new ownership.

The deal with American logistics businessman Tom Piatak and his family will be concluded when the new shareholders agreement is finally signed.

The CUOSC paperwork is still with solicitors. There have been some small revisions but we are not expecting any problems.

The Piatak family have also let it be known there are now only minor issues to sort out.

They will be back in England the week prior to the home game with Charlton on Saturday November 25 and have told fans: "You do not want to miss that one" – hinting the deal will be completed by then.

CUOSC already have ideas and plans in progress. But we want our board members, our membership and the wider fan base to help us shape our future.

We will explore any way we can to better represent fans and create a vibrant supporters club that people choose to join and as a side effect support the club commercially.

We are delighted with the response to our invitation asking for expressions of interest in becoming board members. So far we have had a dozen supporters get in touch. There is still time if you would like to do so – the cut-off date is this Sunday (November 5).

Our Annual General Meeting will be held on Sunday, December 3 when there will be four places on our ten-strong board available. This includes two vacancies while two directors are due to stand for re-election.

Last week we asked fans for ideas that could be carried out quickly to improve the matchday experience at Brunton Park. Once again we had a good response. We have met United chief executive Nigel Clibbens and financial director Suzanne Kidd to work out a plan to progress some of them.

Credit to Blues fans who have ‘clocked up’ more than 1,200 miles travelling to away games at Portsmouth and Cambridge within the last fortnight.

This weekend some will add another 600 miles to the tally by journeying to Leyton Orient for the first round of the FA Cup. They definitely deserve to see the Blues in the hat for the second round.
