Carlisle United are set for another big travelling support as Paul Simpson's side bid to reach the top three at Rochdale.

Four-figure backing is guaranteed for the promotion-chasing Cumbrians at the Crown Oil Arena.

It promises to be the latest in a series of memorable away days as the Blue Army gets behind Simpson's team in force.

On Thursday morning Carlisle announced they had sold 1,162 tickets, leaving 281 remaining.

With the club adding that there will also be plenty available in an away stand that holds close to 3,000 fans, United could be backed by their biggest travelling support of the season so far.

Those who want to buy tickets in advance can do so until 4pm on Friday.

The trip to League Two's bottom club is United's sixth shortest of the campaign.

It will be the latest in which the Cumbrians have attracted major travelling support, after earlier trips to the likes of Hartlepool United, Salford City, Stockport County, Tranmere Rovers, Crewe Alexandra, Doncaster Rovers and Harrogate Town.

They were also due to be backed by more than 1,300 fans at Bradford City before last Saturday's game was postponed.

Victory against Jim Bentley's Rochdale will put United third if Northampton Town fail to win at Barrow.

Simpson, speaking about the fans, said today: "We've got to do our side of it properly - prepare right, pick the right team, and the players have to go out and perform again in front of what I’m led to believe is gong to be another brilliant group of supporters following us.

"It’s certainly a day I’m looking forward to.
