FIN BACK will be out for 'three to four months', Blues boss Paul Simpson has confirmed, after undergoing successful surgery in Finland.

There had been concerns that the Nottingham Forest loanee would be sidelined for a significant period after initally picking up a hamstring injury, but now a clearer picture has been established.

Paul Simpson gave the latest on the wing-back's condition.

He said: "He had surgery on Wednesday morning over in Finland, there was a surgeon who did the operation over there.

"We're looking at a minimum of three or four months which probably takes us to about March so we will have the conversations with [Nottingham] Forest now that this surgery has taken place just to see exactly what they want to do with him."

Paul Simpson also confirmed that he has been in contact with Back after the surgery.

He said: "He was telling me that he's flying back from Finland on Friday and wants to come up to the game on Saturday with his Dad, but I had to try and tell him that it's far too early to be sitting in a car from the midlands.

"That just shows the kind of lad Fin is, he wants to be involved, he wants to come back, but he has to be a bit more sensible about it."

Simmo also accepted that the future of Fin Back at Carlisle depends on the will of his parent club.

He said: "It all depends on what Forest decide, Forest may want to keep him back with them and they may want to recall him, I don't really know at this moment in time.

"It's more about getting him sorted with the surgery and starting his recovery and making sure everything's right for Fin to continue playing to the level that he did while he was with us."
