A look at some of the latest rumours, transfers and news around Carlisle United’s division.

GILLS LAND IMPS MIDFIELDER

Gillingham, visitors to Brunton Park later this month, have brought in Lincoln City’s Hakeeb Adelakun.

The 26-year-old midfielder has joined the Kent outfit on a season-long loan deal.

“Hakeeb is a player I have chased all summer,” boss Neil Harris told Gills’ website.

"He is a player that has performed very well at the leagues above us over the last few seasons and I am sure will add great competition at the attacking end of the pitch."

SAINTS DEFENDER HEADS NORTH

Defender Kayne Ramsey has joined Harrogate Town in a permanent move from Premier League club Southampton.

The former Chelsea youth right-back, 21, has been with the Saints since 2018 and has had loan spells with Shrewsbury, Crewe and Ross County.

“There was a lot of interest in him from League One so we’ve had to be patient because we understand that ambitious players want to play as high as possible, but we’re delighted to be able to bring in a player we have wanted for some time,” boss Simon Weaver told the Sulphurites website.

NEW DEAL AT DALE

Rochdale, having today brought in ex-Carlisle loan midfielder Connor Malley on a short-term deal, have been doing further business.

The Spotland club have handed defender Max Taylor a contract extension, keeping him at Dale until 2024.

“Max will be, I’m sure, a very important player for this club moving forward in the future,” boss Robbie Stockdale told the Rochdale website.

CREWE PROSPECT CHANGES NAME

Crewe Alexandra have announced that young striker Connor Salisbury will now be known as Connor Evans.

The Railwaymen said Evans, a Wales Under-18 international, has made the decision in order to have the same surname as his mother and stepfather.

LIVERPOOL PROSPECT EYES MOVE

Liverpool midfielder Jake Cain could make a League Two loan move, it has been reported.

The 20-year-old, who had a spell with Newport County last season, is keen to get more first-team experience.

And both Swindon and Crewe are eyeing the Anfield prospect, claims the Liverpool Echo.

YOUNG BANTAM LOANED OUT

Bradford City have sent young midfielder Kian Scales to Farsley Celtic on loan.

The 20-year-old heads to the National League North club for a second spell.

It is an initial one-month spell.

ROBINS STILL ON STRIKER HUNT

Swindon Town boss Scott Lindsey remains on the search for a new striker but said patience is required.

The Robins have scored just once in four games – Jacob Wakeling’s first-half effort at Carlisle.

Speaking in the Swindon Advertiser, Lindsey said: “It’s still ongoing and we’re working very hard. It’s difficult in the middle of these Saturday-Tuesday games because they come thick and fast. Hopefully, after the Rochdale game, when we’ve got a clear week, we can really get to grips with getting that sorted.”

STOKE SIGN ROCHDALE KID

Teenage midfielder Ben Kershaw has jumped from League Two to the Championship.

The 18-year-old has left Rochdale to join Stoke City.

He will go into the Potters’ Under-21s squad along with fellow new faces Jacob Holland-Wilkinson and Edwin Andersson, the Sentinel report.
