A look at the latest rumours and news from Carlisle United’s division…

MAN UTD PROSPECT SET FOR MOVE

Manchester United are set to loan young defender Charlie Wellens to Crewe Alexandra, it has been reported.

The Sun journalist Alan Nixon says the 19-year-old – son of Leyton Orient boss Richie Wellens – will make the League Two move soon.

If Wellens seals the move, he will join a Crewe side who have won their first two League Two games, with ex-Carlisle defenders Rod McDonald and Kelvin Mellor in their side.

He scored a free-kick in Man Utd Under-23s’ most recent outing against Arsenal.

NEW STRIKER FOR BLUEBIRDS

Barrow have added former Hamilton Academical and Northampton Town frontman David Moyo to their squad.

The 27-year-old has been training with Pete Wild's squad.

And now the Zimbabwe international has signed a one-year deal with Barrow, who have won their first two games of the league campaign.

The move is subject to international clearance.

FLYNN FUMES AT ABUSE

Walsall boss Michael Flynn has blasted some fans at his former club Newport County for their behaviour on Saturday.

Flynn’s new side earned a 1-0 win at Rodney Parade on his first game back at the south Wales club.

The 41-year-old said there had been some “very unsavoury comments” made about his wide, describing it as “an absolute disgrace”

“It probably makes the win a bit sweeter after those comments,” he added, as reported by The Mirror. They overstepped the mark, it just shows what lowlife they are really.”

Newport said they would be conducting an internal investigation about the alleged treatment Flynn received, “and will act accordingly”.

BANTAMS BRING IN PALACE PROSPECT

Bradford City have moved to sign Crystal Palace winger Scott Banks on a season-long loan.

Mark Hughes has landed the 20-year-old after injuries to Emmanuel Osadebe and Jamie Walker.

Bantams boss Hughes said on the club website: “He is a talented young player who has the ability to unlock doors and make things happen in the final third.

“With bags of experience in Premier League Two, he was also awarded plenty of minutes during pre-season for Crystal Palace and is more than accustomed to being in and around a top-flight set-up.”

GILLS CHIEF STEPS BACK AFTER STICK

Gillingham chairman Paul Scally has announced he is stepping back from the day-to-day running of the club after suffering “relentless” abuse.

The Kent outfit have brought former finance director Paul Fisher back to the club as chief executive.

Owner Scally said in a statement that he was “physically and mentally exhausted from the efforts, stress, strain and worries of the past couple of years.”

He also said he had suffered “extreme personal abuse” from "a small, mindless but vocal group of individuals.”

He added: "This abuse has been unacceptable, unfair, malicious, painful and without merit.”

BAGGIES FORWARD TO DALE

Rochdale have signed West Bromwich Albion forward Rayhaan Tulloch, 21, on a season-long loan.

The former England youth international worked at the Hawthorns under Dale boss Robbie Stockdale.

Tulloch told Rochdale's website: “I’m really pleased to have joined the club. It has been a long time coming and I’m looking forward to it.

“I’ve worked with the gaffer and Jimmy Shan before and I like they way they operate. They’re good people and they’re the right people to help me progress in my football career.”

POOLS’ BOSS IN TRANSFER PLEDGE

Hartlepool United chairman Raj Singh has told fans they are still on the transfer hunt despite bringing in 14 players this summer.

Pools have one point and no goals from their first two League Two games.

“We are still hoping to add to the squad and give ourselves a really good chance of competing at the top end of the table,” said Singh in the Hartlepool Mail.

“On that front, we all need to be patient to see who comes in because we are reliant on other clubs doing their business before we get to know about players we would like to bring in.”

ORIENT TARGETING SIGNINGS

Wellens senior, meanwhile, wants new faces at Leyton Orient before the transfer window closes.

The Os boss says he needs to strengthen his midfield numbers.

“It’s five out and we've only brought one in,” he said of the summer’s business in that position.

"It doesn't take a rocket scientist. We just need a couple of bodies in."

MARINERS MAKE MOVE

Grimsby Town have brought in Luton Town new boy Aribim Pepple.

The forward only recently joined the Hatters from Canadian side Cavalry FC.

But a loan move to Blundell Park – where Carlisle go next Tuesday – has now been sealed.

Pepple was said to have other interest in the bottom two divisions but newly-promoted Grimsby is his destination.
