One of Carlisle United's loan players from last season has earned a League One move.

Goalkeeper Lukas Jensen has joined Accrington Stanley on a season-long loan from Burnley.

It follows a campaign in Cumbrian when Danish keeper Jensen barely figured for the Blues.

He made just four first-team appearances after joining at the start of the campaign.

Jensen got his chance after an injury to Magnus Norman, but then suffered a wrist injury himself which ruled him out of action for a spell.

With Mark Howard then joining and quickly becoming Carlisle's first choice No1, 23-year-old Jensen managed one league outing against Bristol Rovers in Chris Beech's last game in charge, plus games in the Carabao Cup at Sheffield United and Papa John's Trophy ties against Hartlepool United and Everton's Under-21s.

He also spent time back at his parent club and made appearances for Burnley's Under-23s before the end of the season.

Accrington boss John Coleman, speaking on his club's website, said of the big Dane: "He has been someone we have been looking at for a while and he has impressed us.

"He will be a valuable asset and will challenge Toby Savin and Liam Isherwood for the No1 spot.

"Lukas is a young lad, he has been on loan at Carlisle and looking to make the next step. He commands his area well and I think he could play for Burnley's first team one day."

Jensen said: "When I got the opportunity to come to Accrington, it was a no-brainer for me.

"I spoke to the gaffer and my goalie coach at Burnley and know it’s the right move for me."

In Carlisle's goalkeeping department this summer Paul Simpson has added Tomas Holy following the departures of Howard and Magnus Norman, with the possibility of another gloveman coming in.

Teenagers Gabe Breeze and Scott Simons are currently understudies to Czech keeper Holy.
