Offrande Zanzala has joined Newport County following his departure from Barrow.

The former Carlisle United striker has put pen to paper on a deal with the Exiles after mutually terminating his contract with the Bluebirds.

The 25-year-old swapped Brunton Park for Holker Street last summer, after scoring five times for the Blues during the 2020/21 season.

Signed by Chris Beech, Zanzala spent just half a season with the Cumbrians before turning down the offer of a new contract.

He subsequently joined Barrow on a two-year-contract and made 27 appearances, netting five goals last season.

Zanzala joined Exeter City on loan in January and scored twice for the Grecians en route to promotion from League Two.

But he will now team-up with Newport - much to the delight of boss James Rowberry.

“I’m really pleased to welcome Offrande to our club," he said, speaking to County's official website.

"I’ve been speaking to him for the past week or two and I’m excited on how he can help the team and how we can develop him.

“We’ve fought off some really strong competition for his signature and I would like to thank Darren (Kelly, Sporting Director), Gavin (Foxall, chairman), and the board for their support in making Offrande a Newport County AFC player."
