The next seven days could deliver plenty of news from Carlisle United - with a whole host of topics on the agenda.

Paul Simpson's side will return to pre-season training later this week as preparations for the new League Two campaign step-up a gear, and there is plenty else happening at Brunton Park over the next few days.

Here, we take a look at what to expect from a busy week for the Blues:

RETURN TO PRE-SEASON TRAINING

Carlisle's squad will return to the training pitches on Wednesday, June 22 - ahead of their first friendly at Penrith on July 1.

It will be the first chance for new additions Tomas Holy and Owen Moxon to work with their new teammates, and will give Simpson some valuable time to work with his players.

That was something he didn't really have after his appointment in February, given the hectic, often Saturday-Tuesday nature of the end of the League Two season.

Many former Carlisle managers have also used the early weeks of pre-season as a chance to run the rule over some triallists, and it will be interesting to see whether Simpson extends that offer to any free agents.

NEW KITS REVEALED

Thursday promises to be a busy day, with Carlisle set to reveal their home and away kits for the 2022/23 season.

They will first be revealed to local businesses attending the club's annual fixture breakfast at 9am, before then being published online from Noon.

Season Ticket holders will be able to purchase their shirt at the Blues Store from 4pm on Friday - with general sale to begin at 10am the next day.

Carlisle's new kits will again be produced by Italian firm Errea and will be sponsored by local company Bimson.

SCHEDULE CONFIRMED

Carlisle's fixtures for the 2022/23 season will also be revealed on Thursday, with their League One schedule to be released at 9am.

The draw for the Papa John's Trophy group stage - which will see the Blues face-off against two EFL sides and one invited club, with two of the games being held at Brunton Park - will then follow at 11:30am.

And the day will be rounded-off with the Carabao Cup draw at 2:30pm.

AND WHAT ABOUT TRANSFERS?

Simpson would like as many signings in place as possible before his side return to training, but a degree of patience will undoubtedly be required.

That said, it's known that the Blues are continuing to pursue a number of targets and are hopeful of further breakthroughs in the near future.

With the wheels of the market now starting to move a little more, we could see some further progress this week.
