What has Kyle Jameson's career been like so far?

Jameson began his career at non-league side Southport, but caught the eye and was snapped-up by Chelsea in January 2017.

His time at Stamford Bridge was short-lived however, and he departed for West Brom just seven months later.

Jameson featured regularly for the Baggies' under-23 side and also spent time on loan with Barrow, making 25 appearances in the National League during the 2018/19 season.

A permanent move to AFC Fylde then followed before the centre back arrived at Oldham Athletic in 2020.

After a promising debut campaign at Boundary Park, Jameson saw his 2021/22 season disrupted by injury - and he made just 11 league appearances as the Latics finished in the bottom two.

Following the conclusion of the season, Jameson left the club alongside a host of other senior players.

What type of player is Kyle Jameson?

Jameson has spent most of his career playing as a central defender, and towards the end of last season he played on the left hand side of a back three for Oldham.

He has also featured at left-back in the past.

Comfortable playing out from defence, Jameson completed 81.6% of his passes last season and was also fairly commanding in the air, winning 53.9% of his aerial duels.

What's been said about Kyle Jameson?

Former Barrow boss Ian Evatt was full of praise for Jameson's character after he overcame a tricky spell during his loan spell with the Bluebirds.

Speaking in December 2018, Evatt said: "He showed great character because he made a bad mistake at Ebbsfleet, which cost us the game and he made a couple of mistakes at Harrogate which cost us the game.

“But on Tuesday, he came in and showed what an excellent player he is. He’s a fantastic player – I keep telling him that – in training I see a lot of good things in Kyle.

“It’s just about consistency now with him and that will come with experience.”

What do the transfer rumours say?

The South London Press reported that Carlisle were monitoring Jameson alongside AFC Wimbledon.

Meanwhile, other reports have linked both Harrogate Town and Burton Albion with moves for the centre back.
