Carlisle United are monitoring free agent defender Kyle Jameson - according to reports.

The 23-year-old is without a club having left Oldham Athletic following their relegation to the National League, and the South London Press report that the Blues and AFC Wimbledon are both believed to be keeping tabs on the centre back.

Jameson joined Premier League giants Chelsea at the age of 18 after spending his formative years with Southport.

But he spent just half a season at Stamford Bridge before moving on to West Bromwich Albion, who allowed him to join Barrow on loan during the 2018/19 season.

He made 25 appearances at Holker Street before being released by the Baggies, subsequently joining AFC Fylde.

After a season with the Coasters, he signed for Oldham Athletic in 2020 and has spent the last two seasons at Boundary Park.

He appeared 27 times in debut campaign before injury curtailed his involvement last year, although he did return in the final weeks of the season.

Carlisle are in the market for defensive reinforcements after opting to release Rod McDonald - with Dynel Simeu then returning to Southampton after his loan spell came to an end.

The Blues have so far added Owen Moxon and Tomas Holy to their ranks ahead of Paul Simpson's side returning to pre-season training on June 22.
