It's been a busy day for Carlisle United's rivals in League Two.

With the new season now just over a month away, activity is stepping-up around the division.

Here's the latest news from the fourth tier:

Swindon Town manager departs

After weeks of speculation, Charlton Athletic have confirmed the appointment of Ben Garner as their new manager.

Garner led Swindon to the League Two play-offs last year, but his side were beaten by Port Vale in the semi-finals.

Speaking to BBC Radio London, he said: "It wasn't an easy decision by any stretch to leave Swindon after a great season.

"It was just the fact the opportunity here being such a fantastic one and such a good fit with what I believe in and what I want to create. It's all fallen into place well."

Garner has signed a three-year deal at The Valley and replaces Johnnie Jackson - who left the Addicks in May and has since gone on to be appointed at AFC Wimbledon.

Ex-Spurs midfielder Ryan Mason is the current favourite to take the reigns at the Robins.

Leyton Orient seal first summer signing

Leyton Orient have made winger Theo Archibald their first summer signing.

The Scot spent time on loan at Brisbane Road last season from Lincoln City - netting eight times in 42 games.

Archibald, 24, saw red when the O's welcomed Carlisle in February after receiving two bookings. He subsequently received a two-game ban after comments he made to the match officials.

Stockport midfielder signs new deal

Recently-promoted Stockport County have handed midfielder Ryan Croasdale a new one-year contract.

The 27-year-old's existing terms were set to expire this summer, but Dave Challinor has now moved to offer him fresh terms.

He previously spent time with AFC Fylde and Kidderminster.
