Striker Ruben Jerome has turned down rival clubs to remain with Workington Reds.

The frontman is the latest player to commit to Danny Grainger's squad for the new season.

It takes former Ramsbotton attacker Jerome into a third campaign at Borough Park.

Jerome previously joined Reds in Grainger's first spell in charge and the returning manager is delighted the striker has signed up for longer.

"He has shown great commitment to the club after turning down a few offers closer to home, which would have been easier for him," Grainger told Workington's website.

"It shows what the club, players and fans mean to him.

"I'm looking forward to having a full season with him and seeing him scoring plenty of goals as we go after our aims."

Jerome said he was keen to stay with Workington and help the club go one better than last season, when they missed out on NPL West promotion in the play-offs.
