Carlisle United will take on League One clubs Bolton Wanderers and Morecambe in pre-season friendlies.

They are the latest games added to the Cumbrians' summer calendar.

Bolton will visit Brunton Park on Saturday, July 16.

And Paul Simpson's side will then go to Morecambe's Mazuma Stadium on Saturday, July 23.

The Bolton game will see ex-United midfielder Kyle Dempsey return to take on his former club.

It could also see talented teenage Cumbrian keeper James Trafford, formerly on United's academy books, face the Blues if he seals another loan move back to Ian Evatt's side from Manchester City.

Bolton finished ninth in the third tier last season and are expected to be among the promotion contenders in 2022/23.

Derek Adams' Morecambe will then provide further League One opposition for Simpson's side on the last weekend before the start of the new season.

The Shrimps, who avoided relegation on the final day of the season, are likely to include former United men Cole Stockton and Arthur Gnahoua.

Both games will kick off at 3pm.

They take United's number of pre-season games to five, with the Blues having already confirmed away games against three Cumbrian non-league sides.

They go to Penrith on Friday, July 1, Kendal Town on Wednesday, July 6 and Workington Reds on Saturday, July 9.
