Carlisle United have been awarded Family Excellence status by the EFL for the 13th consecutive season.

The Blues confirmed they were among 65 clubs to have been recognised for their family engagement work at Brunton Park.

A dozen clubs received a gold award while United were among the other 53 to receive recognition for their efforts.

EFL chief executive Trevor Birch said: “I would like to congratulate the record number of clubs that have achieved Family Excellence status this season.

"Ensuring a memorable matchday experience is vital to attract the next generation of young fans."

The Family Excellence scheme, the League says, "aims to drive continuous improvement and best practice in family engagement across the leagues".

It sees clubs like United receive two 'mystery family' visits during the season.

Their feedback and reports determine whether a club should achieve ‘Family Excellence’ status.

Carlisle were among 21 League Two clubs to receive the recognition.
