A former Carlisle United loan player is among a 13-man clear-out at Championship club Preston North End.

Ethan Walker, who was with the Blues last season, has been released by the Deepdale club.

He joins long-serving Cumbrian defender Paul Huntington in departing Preston at the end of the 2021/22 season.

Walker has been on loan with AFC Fylde this season and his release ends a long association with the Lancashire outfit.

The 19-year-old made 17 appearances for the Cumbrians in an injury-hit 2020/21 campaign.

He will now join a host of players in looking for a new club this summer.

Huntington, who is set to be awarded a testimonial by Preston after ten seasons with the club, had his departure confirmed recently, and his name is among the 13 listed in heading out of Deepdale.

Also let go at the end of their deals are Connor Ripley, Izzy Brown, Jack Baxter, Jacob Holland-Wilkinson, Jamie Thomas, Joe Rafferty, Joe Rodwell-Grant, Mathew Hudson, Oliver Lombard, Scott Sinclair and Tom Barkhuizen.

Ex-United man Brad Potts remains under contract.
