Carlisle United fans gave us their views on Twitter after their Good Friday defeat at Walsall.

Here is a selection.

We look short of ideas and of course goals again, but we could be Oldham? It’s all about building for next season I guess and getting a long overdue recruitment process in place (@keithelliott94)

Sums up our season. Soft goal, then lots of possession without an end result. Midfield is absent and there was no one capable of getting behind their defence up front. Changes needed in most positions. (@BruceVander)

Highlights the fact we need a decent change in personnel over the summer and more importantly, we need Simmo here to oversee it. Without him, we'd be in Oldham's position now and we'll be in Scunthorpe's position next season. (@1StevieKilner)

Difficult to keep up the momentum now we are close to safety. Injuries haven’t helped of course. It’s still a miracle. (@NotInSeddon)

Lot of people on that pitch looking towards next season. Lots of us in the away end too. Would love Simmo still to be there, not sure about everybody else. (@JHallHDI)

Don't get why Riley can't be given a chance in the midfield unless he's on some stupid bonus thing or whatever. 'Cause we've got nothing to lose now and should be seeing the squad for next year. Mellish is still not a midfielder (@Cazzum01)

Simmo has done well with a poor squad and recent results have proved this bunch of players will not achieve. The league table doesn't lie and Simmo knows this team's capabilities. It is essential that Simmo stays and has a good clear out. (@peterjo91525330)

Play the best available team, in their positions they have been playing well in - we'd do better. Much better performance second half. Lots of mistakes. Lots of changes needed next year. (@In5ertHandle)

Love the bloke but didn’t understand the team selection from Simmo today. The back five of Riley, Simeu, Feeney, Mellish and Armer looked solid. Changing that is costing us. Fortunately we should be safe but with every defeat a few names get crossed of the renewal list for contracts (@parkinsonross)

Got the impression that apart from Feeney and Tobi most of the players either couldn’t be bothered or had lost the ability to get revved up for the game - really disappointing performance. (@Norther42188430)

Wrong formation to start. Had no control, creativity or supply to forwards. Bad goal to give away at bad time. Looked better with switch to 3-5-2 but very few real chances. Too easy to Walsall sit back feign injury and time waste - which they did. If only Dennis had put early chance away (@PlusCaChange3)

Can't get away with playing Mellish in a midfield two. Can't fault his commitment but he's not up to it. After a good run we've reverted to our norm and missing Devitt and Guy. Just need this season to be over. (@ticketaddict)

Not sure what's gone wrong, but think we have to look at the changes to the back four...and the injuries to Guy and Devitt. @LindaNi121202)
