Former Carlisle United defenders will go head to head at Wembley after helping their respective clubs to the FA Trophy final.

Bromley, whose side included ex-Blues centre-half Byron Webster, made it past York City 3-1 in their semi-final.

And Aaron Hayden was in the Wrexham side that joined them at the national stadium thanks to a dramatic 2-0 win over Stockport County.

The two defenders were team-mates at Brunton Park in the 2019/20 season.

Now they will go up against one another to win non-league's top cup competition.

Veteran Webster, 35, who is in his second season with National League outfit Bromley, played the full game as the home side recovered from conceding an early goal to National League North side York.

After Kurt Wiloughby had shot the Minstermen ahead, Bromley turned things round with goals from Michael Cheek (two) and James Alabi at Hayes Lane in front of 4,423 fans.

Hayden, meanwhile, also played the full game as Wrexham left it late to defeat fellow National League big-spenders Stockport.

The Racecourse Ground tie was locked at 0-0 until injury-time, before Paul Mullin struck in the 91st and 95th minutes to send the Red Dragons through in front of an 8,701 crowd.

With one of Wrexham's Hollywood owners, Ryan Reynolds, in the crowd, other former United men involved were Stockport frontman Paddy Madden and assistant manager Clint Hill, while a further ex-Blue, defender Shaun Brisley, was an unused Wrexham sub.

The final is on May 22.
