Crawley Town's stand-in boss Lee Bradbury rued the moment his side "switched off" to allow Lewis Alessandra to save a point for Carlisle United.

Assistant manager Bradbury - taking the helm with boss John Yems absent for personal reasons - felt the visitors had the better of the 1-1 draw at Brunton Park.

Ex-Blues striker Ashley Nadesan shot Crawley in front before missing a second-half penalty.

Sub Alessandra then headed Carlisle level in the 93rd minute.

"We're disappointed, which I think shows how far we've come," said former Portsmouth and Manchester City striker Bradbury.

"They [Carlisle] are on a great run, Keith Millen has turned them round here and they had three wins on the bounce, the same as we did.

"I thought we had the better spells in the game, and more possession, especially in the first half.

"We knew they would throw everything at us in the final 15 minutes, but defensively we were great.

"One switch-off, the lad [Alessandra] gets free and scores a good header.

"I'm gutted for the lads - I thought they worked hard for each other, were united, hard-working...that's what you need in this league."

Bradbury, speaking on Crawley's YouTube channel, said he felt for Nadesan after the penalty miss that kept United in the game.

"Gutted for Nadders missing the pen," the Crawley No2 added. "He's been excellent up top and deserved his goal.

"Everyone misses penalties and we'll back each other up."
