League form counts for nothing when the Blues entertain Shrewsbury in the FA Cup on Saturday.

There is a cash prize for the winners of £22,629 plus the chance of a money-spinning tie against one of the Premier League giants in the next round.

The Blues may be having their struggles in League Two but they will still fancy their chances of causing an upset and toppling the League One side.

Boss Keith Millen will be hoping for a good Brunton Park atmosphere and would love to get his hands on some of that money when he tries to add to his squad in January.

United also have a 55-year-old score to settle from the last time the two teams met in the FA Cup in 1966. The Shrews won a cup marathon, eventually going through after extra-time in a second replay and then drawing Chelsea in the next round.

The Blues have had a good week leading up to the match and will be brimming with confidence.

They lifted a massive weight off their shoulders when they ended a 12-game winless league run with a 1-0 victory against Walsall at Brunton Park last weekend.

Then they followed it up on Tuesday with a dramatic win on penalties against Lincoln in the EFL Trophy.

CUOSC are working on a new manifesto for the future of the club after bringing out the results of an extensive questionnaire last week. Using the answers we will map out what ‘good looks like’ at Brunton Park and try to make it a reality.

The views of our fanbase were also reflected in the publication of the government’s fan-led review into football governance.

Among the recommendations it suggests greater power should be given to fans in the form of ‘shadow boards’ and a ‘golden share’.

The Blues are in a great position to adopt a ‘shadow board’ due to the current set-up of CUOSC and Carlisle United Supporter Groups (CUSG), while the ‘golden share’ will ensure fans have veto rights on changes to heritage matters such as club colours, badge and stadium location.

The revolution we all hope will be ushered in by the review has the power to positively affect the club.

CUOSC are members of the Football Supporters Association, who played a big role in the review, and we will be doing all we can to make sure United get proper benefit from the new deal for football once it takes shape.
