Clubs will be encouraged to hand more power to fans when the final report of the government’s review into football governance is published.
CUOSC hope this may lead to more fans coming forward to stand for positions on our board as we try to help the Blues move forward.
The report, which is expected imminently, will call for an independent regulator to be appointed to help run the game.
It is expected the regulator will then attempt to address the massive financial gulf between the Premier League and the rest of the game, encourage greater fan participation, and also bolster the 'fit and proper person' ownership tests.
CUOSC are always keen to attract new members and, particularly, people who would like to help out at board level.
We are the envy of many supporters’ organisations because we already have representatives on the club’s two boards. Our position on the strategic Holdings Board is by invitation of the other shareholders.
It was a depressing evening on Tuesday when United’s winless run in the league was stretched to 12 games.
Despite dominating the majority of possession against Harrogate we went down 2-0. The Blues created enough chances but seem to have forgotten how to find the net. It is now over two months since we scored at Brunton Park in the league.
It must have been even harder to take for the brilliant fans who made the 700-mile round trip to see us lose at Exeter at the weekend - although, at least, they saw a Jordan Gibson goal in the 2-1 defeat.
New boss Keith Millen can only play the hand he has been dealt but he admitted he has to change the mind-set of the players if we are to get anything from the home match with Walsall this Saturday.
CUOSC will be holding our regular supporters’ surgery before the game. It will take place in the study centre next to the club shop between 1.30pm and 2.30pm.
It’s a chance to call in and chat to some of our directors. It is also an opportunity to sign up or renew your membership. It costs £10 for an adult for a year and £5 for seniors and Under-18s.
CUOSC are working with the club on multiple EDI (Equality, Diversion and Inclusion) projects. The ‘My Club My Shirt’ venture is proceeding well and new initiatives with Anti-Racism Cumbria and #HerGameToo, will feature prominently in the coming weeks.
