TOWN Boss Chris Thorman has said that his squad are 'ready to give a performance' in this weekend's big final.

The 'Blue and White Army' will face Doncaster this weekend to fight for promotion into the Betfred Championship next year.

Talking about the match, head coach Chris Thorman said: "I know that we are going to give a performance that the fans are going to be proud of. I've just got absolutely no doubt that were going to nail it and we are going to have to because Doncaster are a really good side."

At Workington's last home game with Doncaster, the away side walked away with a win. However Chris is determined that the same will not happen on Sunday, with the town boys planning to 'nail' the match.

He said: "Doncaster are probably the best team that we have played all year, you know we got beat by them at home the last time we played... but there was still loads of positives to take from that game.

"At the end of the season I was watching their game against Keighley and just kind of watching them go hammer and tongs I was grateful that my team had the weekend to refresh from what was a tough week.

"Hopefully that game has taken its toll on Doncaster a little bit, but look they're a quality side. It's going to be a really tough test but we're really excited for the opportunity."

He also commended the squad for the way in which they gained their win at the back-end of last month, in an epic golden-point finish which saw long time Town favourite Carl Forber clinch the game with a conversion that the side gained after a penalty.

The head coach said: "I thought we showed some real character to get the win, we had a bit of adversity there. You know a golden point is something that the lads had never played in before, we had a real ballsy play."

The match will start at 1pm this Sunday, October 10 at Derwent Park.
