Carlisle United 0 Forest Green Rovers 2: Two quickfire goals consigned Carlisle United to another defeat as they slid to 19th in League Two.

Jamille Matt and Nicky Cadden struck in the space of four minutes midway through the first half for the leaders.

United couldn't find a way back as they suffered their first home defeat of the season and pressure increased on boss Chris Beech.

Carlisle could have scored early on but offered little attacking threat when chasing the game.

Some fans in the Warwick Road End chanted for Beech's removal while fans in the 3,963 crowd greeted back-to-back defeats with boos at full-time.

United boss Beech had rung the changes on a rainswept afternoon in a bid to get the Blues back to winning ways.

Jonathan Dinzeyi was handed his league debut and Brad Young his first league start, with Morgan Feeney and Gime Toure also recalled.

That saw Corey Whelan pushed into a midfield role, as Rod McDonald and Jordan Gibson were sidelined and Lewis Alessandra and Kelvin Mellor dropped to the bench.

Forest Green, with one change as Ebou Adams replaced Jack Aitchison, started on the front foot as Kane Wilson tested Jack Armer down the right.

But Carlisle could easily have taken an early lead as Brennan Dickenson broke forward into space, entered the box but shot across goal and wide in the sixth minute.

Dickenson had another chance from a tighter angle three minutes later, but again shot across goal and off target.

It was an open, end to end game which saw Jordan Moore-Taylor have a header saved for the visitors before Adams went clean through only to scuff his shot wide.

Wilson's back-post cross then found Cadden in space, but he was distracted by Adams' lunge as he miscued his finish.

Carlisle were then denied in the 27th minute when Young's header was kept out superbly by keeper Luke McGee.

Forest Green then went up the other end and should have scored through Matty Stevens, but Magnus Norman got down to tip his shot around the post.

But from the resulting 29th-minute corner they did go ahead, as a corner from the left found Matt, who slammed a half-volley home.

It was the latest time recently that Carlisle's defending of corners had cost them - and four minutes later they were further adrift.

Cadden this time did the damage as he cut into space from the left and hammered a fierce shot across Norman.

United's early brightness had now faded and Rob Edwards' side applied more pressure, counter-attacking sharply off the line-leading of Matt, with Wilson almost creating a third and Adams having a penalty appeal waved away by ref Samuel Barrott.

Riley had a shot blocked after the break but Carlisle struggled to carve out chances.

Stevens was denied a third after the break as Cadden had made a good run down the left, while Adams had a shot deflected over for the visitors.

Young showed good industry up front for Carlisle but United's general attacking play was underwhelming, as Beech sent on fit-again Tristan Abrahams for Toure on 66 minutes, and later Zach Clough for Young.

Forest Green sub Jack Aitchison had a volley saved by Norman as they looked for a third.

As the second half went on some fans in the Warwick Road End chanted for Beech's head.

Teenager Lewis Bell was the final throw of the dice by the United boss as he replaced Armer with 10 minutes to go.

But Carlisle failed to create anything of note, Dinzeyi having a late volley blocked but the table-topping visitors seeing their victory out comfortably to remain four points clear at the top of the fourth tier.

Some fans booed as the United players and Beech applauded the home support after full-time.
