New Carlisle United star Jordan Gibson has been named in the EFL team of the week.

The recent signing has earned the recognition after his performance in Saturday's 2-2 draw against Scunthorpe.

Gibson scored his first goal for the Blues and then set up Brennan Dickenson's last-gasp equaliser as United fought back for a point.

It came on the ex-Sligo Rovers man's first start since joining the Cumbrians last month.

Gibson, who had made two sub outings before Saturday, has one goal and two assists to his name from his first 163 minutes in a United shirt.

The attacking midfielder is one of just two League Two players to be named in the EFL team of the week, Forest Green striker Jamille Matt the other.

Also named in the XI is Wigan's ex-Blues striker Charlie Wyke, who scored two in the Latics' 4-1 League One win at Accrington.

In the League Two team of the week, meanwhile, Gibson is joined by Blues defender Corey Whelan.
