A young Carlisle United side will begin the club’s delayed defence of the Cumberland Cup tonight.

The Blues host Langwathby United as the county senior cup returns after a Covid-enforced absence.

The first round tie is at Penrith’s Frenchfield Park.

United are expected to field a youthful XI as they bid to get past their Westmorland Football League Division Three opponents.

The game kicks off at 7pm with entry prices £3 for adults and £1 for concessions.

United are the holders of the cup having won it in 2019, with Covid preventing the competition from being completed since then.

Langwathby warmed up for tonight's game with an 8-1 win against Burneside Reserves on Saturday.
