Gavin Skelton says he does not expect the players who missed Carlisle United's first pre-season friendly to be out for long.

Senior first-team men Rod McDonald, Maguns Norman and Brennan Dickenson all sat out the 8-0 win at Penrith.

First-year pro Keelan Leslie was also missing from the squad that represented the Blues at Frenchfield Park.

Assistant boss Skelton spoke about their absences after the game and suggested the players will return to action soon.

He said: "They are slight niggles.

"Hopefully Rod and Brennan and Magnus will train this week.

"They’ve all done most of pre-season so they’re not far behind at all.

"They’ll be frustrated they haven’t played tonight but if they don’t play on Saturday, hopefully they’ll all be involved next week."
