Carlisle United will host newly-promoted Blackpool at Brunton Park in a pre-season friendly.

The Tangerines, who won the League One play-offs to reach the Championship, will face the Blues on Saturday, July 24.

It is the first home friendly to be confirmed on the Cumbrians' pre-season schedule.

It will see Chris Beech go up against his home-town club, who are managed by Neil Critchley.

The game, which kicks off at 3pm, could also see Pool's former Blues players Jerry Yates and Gary Madine return to Brunton Park.

Carlisle hope fans will be allowed to attend the game and say ticket details will be confirmed in due course.

Beech, speaking on United's website, said: "It was great to see Blackpool get promoted because I get on really well with Neil.

"They've got a lot of good quality players so it will be good for us to go up against them at that stage of our pre-season.

"It'll be a good game and hopefully the fans will be allowed back in to enjoy it with us."

United have already confirmed away friendlies against Penrith, Workington, Hebburn, Chorley, Kendal and Lancaster.
