Former Carlisle United keeper Jordan Pickford says he has been working on his kicking ahead of England’s big Euro 2020 clash with Scotland.

The ex-Blues loanee kept a clean sheet in the Group D opener against Croatia but admitted aspects of his distribution could have been better.

Pickford hopes his kicking will be on the money at Wembley tomorrow night as England bid to seal their place in the second round.

“Hopefully I will be a bit more accurate in the next game,” said the Everton man, who was with Carlisle in 2014.

“We do a lot of work and it’s about me being able to have that vision, see passes and execute.

“Against Croatia, a few too many weren’t well-placed enough for my standard, so I’ll do extra work to be ready for Scotland.”

Pickford says good decision-making is essential whether going long or short with his kicks.

He added: “You have a bit of game sense and a bit of knowledge of target areas but it’s down to my decision and making sure I make the right one.”

Aaron Ramsdale has joined Sam Johnstone in the goalkeeping ranks alongside Pickford after replacing injured Cumbrian Dean Henderson.

The Scotland game could see two ex-Carlisle loan men in opposition, if defender Liam Cooper gets another start for Steve Clarke's side.
