Striker Cedwyn Scott has found a new club just a day after his Carlisle United exit was confirmed.

The frontman has joined National League North outfit Gateshead for the 2021/22 season.

The 22-year-old had been offered the chance to spend pre-season with United despite the Blues not offering him a new deal at the end of the recent campaign.

But the ex-Hebburn man has instead opted to return to the north east.

He trained with Mike Williamson's squad yesterday before completing his move.

Scott was limited to seven sub appearances for Carlisle after joining from Northern League side Hebburn - where he had been a prolific scorer - in January.

Speaking to Gateshead's website today, the ex-Huddersfield man said: "You need to play regular football to score goals.

"It was a bit frustrating for me on a personal note but I can't dwell on that, I just have to take this opportunity with both hands."

Scott said Gateshead is an "ambitious and very big club" while player-boss Williamsson said: “Cedwyn fits our blueprint perfectly.

“He’s humble, hard-working and he’s got a real eye for goal.”

When announcing his release yesterday, United boss Chris Beech said: "Cedwyn is another great lad who has worked extremely hard with us. It is open-ended with him.

"There is an invitation for him to join us for pre-season training, but we'll wait and see what happens with that and with what he wants to do as we step up for next season."

Scott's move to Carlisle in January came with an agreement for the Blues to play FA Vase winners Hebburn in a pre-season game.
