Two-try Workington Town hero Matty Henson has spoken of his delight at a dream debut in their victory over Hunslet last weekend.

Henson, who has just turned professional with Town, crossed the whitewash twice and was named the Our League man of the match in the win.

But the former Cockermouth amateur said the key thing was to get the points on the board as Town kicked off their League 1 campaign.

"It was a good performance all round," said Henson. "It was just good to get the win and that's the main thing.

"I have enjoyed every minute so far and I can't wait to get into more of the season when the games are coming thick and fast."

Henson said the game was a step up in pace but he felt he coped well with everything that was thrown at him.

"Their pack was really big but ours is mobile so we just moved them about," he added.

"They were always going to tire and we were always going to get on top later in the game.

"It is faster but I've had a good pre-season and I felt all right. Everyone looks sharp."

Henson did pick up a slight knock to his ankle but was hoping to be fit ahead of this weekend's home clash against London Skolars (ko 2pm) – the last game without fans in the stadium.
