Callum Guy has swept the board in Carlisle United's end-of-season awards.

The midfielder has added four more prizes to the News & Star readers' player of the year trophy he picked up yesterday.

Guy has also been voted supporters' player of the season in the official vote run by the club.

London Branch supporters also voted Guy as United's top player of 2020/21, as did users of thecumbrians.net forum.

Guy, 24, also earned the accolade from his team-mates by being named players' player of the season at Brunton Park.

Guy said: “It’s nice to get the recognition for the hard work I’ve put in all season and to get four awards like this is really pleasing.

“Getting the award from the supporters is the main thing because we want to make the fans proud.

“The vote from the players means just as much because it shows the rest of the lads appreciate the work you put in. To get voted by them is a really nice feeling as well.”

United captain Nick Anderton, meanwhile, was named the club's community player of the year.

The defender was recognised for his involvement in a number of online meetings with community groups, and for leading the team in an initiative which saw players buy and deliver over £2,500 worth of food and supplies for a homeless project and for young families in need.

He also led a scheme which saw Blues players buy a fridge freezer to be used by more community teams in Currock.

Speaking about the accolade on the club website, Anderton said: "When I was confirmed as captain I spoke about the fact that it isn't just about what happens on the pitch as far as we're concerned.

"The manager keeps reminding everybody that we have to represent our community in the right way in everything we do.

"This award is testament to the fact that we've all done that."

United are to run a vote on their social media channels this week for the goal of the season award, which would normally have been decide at an end-of-season awards dinner.

Such an event has not been possible this year because of Covid-19.

The London Branch, meanwhile, voted Offrande Zanzala's superb goal against Southend as their "champagne moment" of 2020/21.
