Chris Beech said Offrande Zanzala is being assessed after limping out of Carlisle United’s draw with Port Vale.

The striker had to go off in the early stages of Saturday’s second half.

Zanzala will now be checked ahead of the Blues’ crucial trip to Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday night.

United hope the frontman, who has been a key man in recent weeks, will be fit to continue.

Head coach Beech said: “We’re not sure yet – I’ll speak to [physio ] Ross Goodwin and see how he [Zanzala] is.

“He took a knock when he was clearing a ball.

“He’s felt the back of his leg so we’ll have to wait and see.”

January signing Zanzala has started United’s last 11 games, scoring five goals in that time to help keep the Cumbrians’ play-off hopes alive.

If he is forced to miss out at the University of Bolton Stadium then it could open the door for Joshua Kayode to return to the starting line-up.

The Rotherham loan man replaced Zanzala in the 52nd minute on Saturday, his second outing since returning from an ankle injury that kept him out for a month.
