Reds favourites have signed on the dotted line, pledging another year to Borough Park.

Workington AFC has announced that fan favourites Dav Symington and Jim Atkinson are staying with the club throughout the 2021/2022 season.

Symington, 27, has put pen to paper on his sixth season in a Reds jersey.

Reds bosses Danny Grainger and Steven Rudd have tied down their top scorers after the current season was curtailed by the Northern Premier League. They have wasted no time in keeping captain Conor Tinnion, vice captain Brad Carroll and ace striker Scott Allison.

And now Symington and faithful Reds goalie Jim Atkinson has also re-signed.

Atkinson joins Dan Wordsworth and Sam Smith in pledging another year to the side. Together with the defenders he will ensure the Workington side’s defence remains impenetrable.

“It’s nice to have it done and dusted so I can get ready for the new season,” he told the club website. The fan favourites have now had two games cut short but they will get another chance to charge at the title in the 2021 season.

“I think over the last two seasons, we’ve deserved it so it’s a shame but we’ll have to go again.

“It’s good to have the same core of the team that we know can be successful in this league.”
