Carlisle United’s two games over Easter weekend have both been moved back a day.

The Blues have confirmed that games against Southend and Scunthorpe will now be played on the Saturday and Tuesday respectively.

United had initially been due to face Southend at Roots Hall on Good Friday before hosting Scunthorpe on Easter Monday.

The Blues said the fixture switches were designed to make part of a busy calendar more manageable.

They also thanked Morecambe for agreeing to move their Easter Monday game against Southend back a day.

This enabled Southend to agree to facing United on the Saturday rather than Friday.

United club secretary Sarah McKnight thanked all the clubs involved for their co-operation.

She also said the EFL had agreed to the moves, which will see the Blues in regular Saturday-Tuesday action for most of the remainder of the season.

"They were comfortable as long as we agreed it would work for all four clubs, and the outcome is that we made an extremely busy period slightly easier in terms of preparation and recovery for the players," McKnight said on United's website.

“Thank you once again to the EFL, Southend, Scunthorpe and Morecambe.”

The new dates for the Easter fixtures are: Southend v Carlisle on Saturday, April 3 (1pm) and Carlisle v Scunthorpe on Tuesday, April 6 (6.30pm).
