Morecambe boss Derek Adams has pipped Carlisle United's Chris Beech for the League Two manager of the month award.

And Blues defender Rhys Bennett has missed out on the December player prize to Crawley frontman Max Watters.

It is the second time Beech has come close to the monthly Sky Bet award this season.

After being edged out by Newport's Michael Flynn in October, it is the Shrimps' Adams who has taken the honour this time.

He guided Morecambe to 15 points from six league games last month, compared to United's 13.

Southend's Mark Molesley and Crawley's John Yems were the other managers to miss out.

Watters, meanwhile, was rewarded for a prolific spell which saw him his six goals in as many games in December.

The judging panel for the Sky Bet player of the month comprises Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman, EFL communications director Mark Rowan and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies, with ex-Barnsley boss Danny Wilson joining that trio on the manager of the month panel.
