Appalling conditions made it difficult but two fixtures were played in the Workington and District Sunday League in the last match action for at least the rest of the month.

Glasson Gardeners took on JJ’s at Lakes College’s 3G artificial pitch at Lillyhall, with rain and wind causing trouble for the players.

The opener was a self-inflicted own goal and Ciaran Booty and Jack Skillen added to Glasson’s tally in a 3-1 win for them, with Ryan Smith grabbing the only goal of the game for JJ’s.

Highfield took on The Junction Workington and a rampant display saw them run out 7-0 winners in another game which was played on an artificial pitch at Netherhall School in Maryport.

John Patrick, Connor Hammell and Andrew Richardson helped themselves to a brace of goals each and Kyle Robinson Murray capped a dominant display.

The Highfield scorers in the 7-0 win at Netherhall Astro were Kyle Robinson Murray, John Patrick (2), Connor Hammell (2) and Andrew Richardson (two).
